Writing a blog post from office, after a long long time. It was a pretty fruitful day, today. Woke up late because I was watching Aladin last night. Moreover, skipped office during the morning and stayed back at home, working on a document I had to submit by lunch. It was during this time when a slew of thoughts came to my mind. It is these thoughts that this blog post is all about.
The company that I have recently switched to, seems to be pretty cool. I mean, this is one of the few companies I have found that do not have any Internet access policy, as such. All I had been told, the very first day, was “Do not download so much to choke the bandwidth for the rest of the employees.” I mean, how cool is that? How many companies you have found where they do not care a fig about what pages/sites you access?
However, the reason why I am so excited is the fact that the employees do not have any fixed working hours. I mean, while they do maintain an official timing of 9pm to 6pm, the employees have been given the freedom to choose the timings when they wish to be in office, and also for how long they wanna be here. I mean, there have been quite a few days when I landed up in office at 11am and left at 5pm. Of course, there have also been times when I had to stay back till 11pm :-p But, that’s beside the point.
Like, just today morning, I simply decided to come to work post lunch, because I didn’t feel like leaving for office in the morning. Of course, I did have to work from home. But then, that is ALL the boss cares for. He doesn’t care how much of porn I download, how many hours I clock or even whether I even get my sorry ass to office. All he cares for is whether I get my job done, and within deadlines. That’s all!
Speaking of deadlines, I also wanted to mention another work ethic here. Whatever work you’re supposed to do, you are expected to specify your ETA (Expected Time of Arrival). In case they find it too long, they suggest a deadline and decide on a mutually accepted time line. So, all you need to do is follow the schedules and life is the easiest (or, merriest) for you.
Well, I know what you are thinking. No, I have no clue how they would react if I do not manage to meet my deadline. Simply because, I haven’t managed to screw up a single deadline of mine, at least not yet.
This makes me wonder, if a firm manages to accommodate so much, just for the sake of it’s employees, would someone ever wish to leave it, for another. Of course, I still haven’t experienced the appraisal scenario here. But, in case, that’s rosy too… then?
Anyway, I wouldn’t say life in Bangalore is ideal, but it is surely fun. Gradually, I am getting indecisive on whether I should really leave Bangalore as soon as I have originally planned. Well, only time can tell. As for now, I have my eyes set for the official New Year party, tomorrow evening. Yes, I might get sloshed. Who knows?
This blog is basically a chronicle of my life, and my emotions, since the time I first left home, in search of the oblivion, in quest of my ultimate goal. This blog has a lot of my memories that still manages to churn out a plethora of emotions within me, every time I wade through the cobwebs of my memory. While I was just a little teenager when I started with it, today I am in the transition phase of being a man of my own stature. And the journey still continues.

Quit only when you start something of your own. Otherwise it looks like a deal.
