Love

I may be able to speak the languages of human beings and even of angels,
but if I have no love, my speech is no more than a noisy gong or a clanging bell.
I may have the gift of inspired preaching,
I may have all knowledge and understand all secrets,
I may have all the faith needed to move mountains,
but if I have no love, I have nothing.

Love is patient and kind;
it is not jealous or conceited or proud;
love is not ill-mannered, selfish or irritable;
love does not keep a record of wrongs;
love is not happy with evil, but is happy with the truth.
Love never gives up.

Love is eternal.
There are inspired messages, but they are temporary;
there are gifts of speaking in strange tongues, but they will cease;
there is knowledge, but it will pass.
For our gifts of knowledge and of inspired messages are only partial,
but when what is perfect comes, then what is partial, disappears.

Meanwhile, these three remain -
Love, Faith and Hope.

And the greatest of these is Love.

    This is the same picture that I have on one of my post which I think is titled love, also…http://www.imaginationistimeless.com/2010/02/love.html, this is totally funny.
    And equally funny is the fact that your poem reflects what I have written in words in the above linked post. Incredible.

    I dunno if you remember the you 5 years back, when we had started dating. You used to say, that you don’t really know what love is… and you don’t care what it is called.. you just loved being in love. Such a drastic change to you in the present who believes in this four letter word.
    As a matter of fact, you have made me re believe in love, and in hope that harbors love.

    Lovely poem. You seem to be catching the bug from me.. ;P

    Shayon,

    Read 3 posts now. Well, the house got cleaned that night. And mattress too had a nice wash. There are people who accuse you of not being considerate inspite of you forgiving them number of times. True, if LOVE is not there, then one has nothing.

    Take care

    1 Corinthians 13 is one of my favorite verses.. may sound slightly biased here but I like the hindi version of the text more..

    definitely the best lines, capturing the true heart and meaning of Love.

    @Sakshi
    Yes, now I do understand how much of strength love can give, how much of hope this one feeling can garner. And well, as Grace said, it’s not a poem, rather a verses from a Catholic testament.

    @Uncle J
    It’s always a pleasure to know that you take pains to catch up with all of my pending posts.

    @Grace
    You land up in my blog after a long time :-) Yes, I loved these verses too. but, what do you mean by the ‘hindi version’? Where can I get it?

    @Raj
    Erm… the term might be hypothetical, but I doubt if the feeling is.
